Yellow Boat of Hope Foundation Sets Up 51 Educational Hubs to Empower Youth All Over the Philippines

Yellow Boat of Hope Foundation (YBH), a Nonprofit Organization with the primary goal of providing equal access to education, has established a total of 49 Educational Hubs (e-hubs) all over the Philippines, with two more on their way to San Andres, Romblon, and San Mariano, Isabela. Due to the costly nature of the e-hubs, it took about two years since establishing the project in late 2020 to reach this milestone.

The e-hub project is under the organization's Support Our Schools Campaign, initially created to help reproduce modules during the height of the CoViD-19 Pandemic. Seeing that providing printing solutions wasn’t enough due to the learners’ need for research, YBH hosted a Hope Summit via Zoom (Hope ZoomIt) with all teachers of its adopted schools to develop this solution. The e-hubs serve as research centers for the learners to finish their modules on time. Teachers can also use it to attend webinars and/or for external communication during calamities. Each e-hub consists of 6 laptops, a printing kit, and a year’s worth of internet subscriptions, all of which are still going to be useful even after the pandemic.

Of the e-hub’s impact, Ma. Lorenda de Guzman, a former student of Pit-os National High School in Cebu said, “The Pandemic has caused educational and mental risks. The E-hub is really helpful and useful for us to continue and focus more on our studies.” With the project’s help during this challenging time, Lorenda has graduated and is now in her first year of college.

The Yellow Boat of Hope Foundation has been around for 12 years. Mainly, its purpose is to provide school boats to children who have to swim to go to school and fishing boats for their families' livelihood. With the YBH Educational Hubs, they aim to strengthen their campaign for a more accessible and effective education.
