At the age of 19, I started innovating some business ideas to cater to various clients and stakeholders. This is the reason why I wanted to pursue a degree in Entrepreneurship. I have always sought to innovate and create new ideas but it always turns out into a fad wherein loss in profit occurs. I was acquainted with several disappointments and downfalls but at the end of the day, I feel better and at the same time, comfortable with my four dearest paws, Reth, Beagolie, Avatar, and Moo. This is why I started a venture called The Jurassic BARK PH, a one-stop shop for dog and cat cakes and party essentials.
As a fur parent, I have seen and treated them as more than pets and they are more than just a family member, they are my soulmates. I consider them as my everything who will always be there for you no matter what happens. This is one of the primary reasons why I wanted what’s best for them and try to promote ways that would bring them the recognition they deserve.
As I was contemplating a possible business proposal, I came up with the idea of having affordable and delectable treats for fur babies. These include dog cakes, dog cupcakes, dog paw-sta (pasta), dog pawffin (muffin) munchies, cat cakes, cat cupcakes, cat muffins, and other party packages essentials. This business idea serves as a way to help out owners or other fur parents in providing delectable goodies for their babies on various occasions. It is something that you would definitely do or offer for your best FURiend (friend).
However, it was never easy. All of these goodies should undergo a set of procedures such as going to the veterinarian for assessment, testing ingredients, researching the security of every single element or component of the food whether it is safe for pet consumption. In the end, a strong sense of dedication and meticulousness are required.
In this journey, I have had successfully catered fur parents and their fur buddies throughout Quezon City, Caloocan, Valenzuela, Malabon, Navotas, Pasay, Las Pinas, Marikina, Manila, Pasig, Taguig, Bulacan, Rizal, and other parts of Cavite and Laguna. I do hope that eventually, I will be able to accommodate the barkday celebrations of different fur pals out there.
Apart from the profit, doing this kind of venture combines my love for innovative ideas to do business and at the same time, my passion and commitment to animals. I find it enjoyable because it gives me the unique role to further strengthen the love and the bond of fur parents and their babies - a very difficult relationship to get rid of. Like what Ashly Lorenzana said, people leave imprints on our lives, shaping who we become like how a symbol is pressed into the page of a book. Dogs and cats, on the other hand, leave paw prints on our lives and souls which are as unique as fingerprints in every way.
Angelica Francesca Mapa is a 23-year-old entrepreneur who is currently working in one of the well-renowned fashion-retail company in the Philippines and the sole proprietor of The Jurassic BARK PH. She is also a fur mom of four adorable dogs for more than ten years.
YSPACE is a platform open for young writers to contribute their worth-sharing thoughts and stories to the world. It is a space for young people and by the young people which aims to promote a strong sense of empowerment and inspiration to young Filipinos.
