Youth has a power— and it should be amplified— now more than ever.
Despite being in a pandemic, the Philippines is set to cast its vote on the 2022 National Elections this May 9, 2022. Several sectors, including the youth, are set to choose who, among the candidates, will be the next leaders of the country in the next few years. According to the Commission on Elections (COMELEC), 52% of the total registered voters will come from the youth. With their increasing participation in the PH political landscape, it is crucial that their voices are amplified and listened to, especially in today’s political climate.
Thus, the UP Organization of Business Economics Majors (UP OBEM) gears up for its second virtual installment on one of the country's biggest annual youth economic conventions— Econ No-Mix. With the theme, Amplify: Channeling the Youth’s Role in Shaping the PH Political Landscape, Econ No-Mix will be held this 12th-13th of March 2022 via different online platforms. The two-day convention and competition series shall bring together top-performing high school students nationwide and promote economics and its application in real-life situations. Together, they shall explore through the lens of public policies, with a particular focus on the various ways in which youth can exercise their right to participate in politics beyond voting and how active political participation can improve economic outcomes.

These shall challenge the understanding of the students on the real-world economic dilemmas, especially in the current political scenario we face today and their creative application and solutions that would be of great benefit to our country. Exciting rewards and prizes await the winners of this year’s competitions.
This year’s installment is officially endorsed by National Economic and Development Authority, Junior Philippine Economics Society, Strategic Trade Management Office, Bureau of Small & Medium Enterprise Development, Philippine National Volunteer Services Coordinating Agency, UP Diliman Office of the Vice Chancellor for Student Affairs, UP Diliman Office of Student Projects and Activities, UP School of Economics Alumni Association, UP School of Economics, UP Diliman Office of the Student Regent, UP Diliman University Student Council, and UP School of Economics Student Council.
