The University of the Philippines Diliman is set to make history this November with Connections: The Engineering of Music, a benefit concert joining the hands of the UP College of Engineering and the UP College of Music for the first time in a shared mission: to champion student mental health and well-being.

Happening on Saturday, November 15, 2025, 7:00 PM at the UP Theater, Connections will mark the first-ever performance where UP’s three internationally acclaimed choirs–the Philippine Madrigal Singers, UP Concert Chorus, and the UP Singing Ambassadors–share the stage with the UP Engineering Choir, the UP Alumni Choir, and the JPCA Ensemble. What makes this collaboration historic is the repertoire itself: a celebration of works composed by UP Engineering alumnus Dodjie Simon, arranged by renowned conductor Dr. Joel Navarro. For the first time, the finest voices of UP come together to sing the legacy of an engineer-turned-composer, symbolizing the harmony between two disciplines often seen as worlds apart.

This landmark event is more than just a musical event, it is a call to action for the holistic support of UP students. Connections brings together the brightest voices of the university to uplift and support the wellbeing of the UP student body. Proceeds from the concert will directly fund the Student Wellbeing (SWELL) Programs of the College of Engineering and College of Music. These include initiatives that provide counseling, peer support groups, safe spaces, and resources for students facing academic and personal challenges.

Behind this historic event are two organizations rooted in service: the UP Engineering Research and Development Foundation, Inc. (UPERDFI) and supporting them is the UP Industrial Engineering Club (UP IE Club). UPERDFI has been a pillar of support of UP Engineering since 1972. They are a 300-strong network of alumni and industry leaders who channel funding and expertise into the 5,000 students of the UP College of Engineering. Working with UPERDFI is UP IE Club, a duly recognized, university-wide student organization based in the College of Engineering of the University of the Philippines, Diliman. As an organization that's geared towards service, holistic development, and academic and leadership excellence, UP IE Club commits to improving the lives of the community through various nation-building projects.

Whether you’re an alumnus looking to give back, a music lover in search of a night to remember, or a passionate advocate for mental health; Connections offers a rare chance to be a part of an event that merges talent with compassion.

With over 2,000 seats available and tickets ranging from ₱499 to ₱3,699 via HelixPay, you too can partake in this remarkable convergence of harmony and hope.
