Research Fair 2023 will be hosted this upcoming February 9–11, 2023, on multiple virtual platforms. As the flagship event of the UP Academic League of Chemical Engineering Students, Inc. (UP ALCHEMES), Research Fair, which is now in its 22nd year, intends to recommence as a forum for scientific and technological inventiveness among the Filipino youth. The event is open to high school students from all over the nation.
The Research Competition, the Youth Science Convention, and the National Science Conquest were all reinstated this year as part of the main event. Participants can showcase their scientific breakthroughs in the Research Competition, and they can have access to value-adding seminars and workshops through the Youth Science Convention, which will also host a Case Study Competition. The National Science Conquest is another opportunity for participants to compete against one another in a test of scientific knowledge and abilities.
Research Fair 2023 continues to stand by its goal to challenge young minds by exposing them to the breadth of scientific research advancements. With the theme "ZEPPELIN: Adventuring with the Youth to Greater Scientific Altitudes", Research Fair 2023 challenges these young minds to aspire for greater altitudes once more by reaching above and beyond into the scientific unknown, much like how the zeppelin, a scientific and technological breakthrough, once conquered the vastness of the great skies.
Research Fair started with only 10 research entries back in 2001 and grew to become a three-day event in 2010. Research Fair also made adjustments in 2021 by transitioning to a virtual setup due to the onset of the pandemic. The adjustments and flexibility all contributed to the ongoing success of Research Fair, which also strengthened the organization’s commitment to contribute to and pursue a sustainable society in service of the Filipino people.
