UP Bugkos is set to launch MediKabikolan, a medical and dental mission aimed at extending basic healthcare services to underserved communities in the Bicol Region. The mission is scheduled to take place on June 7, 2025 at Brgy. Cabarbuhan, Bacon District, Sorsogon City, Sorsogon.
MediKabikolan marks the latest initiative under UP Bugkos’ flagship community program, Tabang Bicol, which has long been committed to service-oriented projects for Bicolanos.
“After its last iteration before the pandemic, we are proud to launch MediKabikolan again with the goal of and to embody our objective of providing service to our fellow Bicolanos,” said UP Bugkos President Giana Krisha Baturiano.
The mission will offer free medical consultations, dental check-ups, minor procedures, and basic medication distribution. These services will be delivered by volunteers, including students, health professionals, doctors, and dentists hailing from different corners of Bicol.
The organization is also working with local government units, barangay health workers, and civic groups to ensure an organized and accessible experience for community beneficiaries.
“We chose Brgy. Cabarbuhan because we saw a real need for better access to healthcare in the area. With limited medical resources available, we felt this was a community where our efforts could truly make a difference.“ said Tabang Bicol 2025 Event Head Clarence Mari Ong.
UP Bugkos calls on public and private stakeholders to support MediKabikolan through in-kind or monetary donations.
Through this initiative, the organization hopes to foster compassionate and community-driven healthcare in the region.
