[#CampusBulletin] Wrapping up ADPROS’ six-month advocacy plan with progressive approaches for truth



Along with the information champions and exceptional panelists, the fight against disinformation continues as the Advertising and Public Relations Organization of Students (ADPROS) reaches the final phase of their six-month advocacy campaign entitled Between the Li(n)es: Critical ADPR in a Post-Truth World, started on December 2022.


ADPROS, the sole official academic organization of the Department of Advertising and Public Relations from the Polytechnic University of the Philippines–College of Communication, wraps up their advocacy plan through “Between the Li(n)es Concluding Act: Progressive Approaches for Truth” which will commence on June 14, 2023, Wednesday, at PUP Main Building - Claro M. Recto Hall.


This concluding act is an onsite event which seeks to highlight the functions of ADPR and the different sectors in the face of disinformation and identify the countermeasures that may be used to combat the information crisis using the expertise of the ADPR profession. The event will consist of a roundtable discussion and a workshop that aims to generate concrete actions for the current students of Bachelor in Advertising and Public Relations that are soon to be future ADPR and media practitioners in dismantling the networked information crisis caused by the said industry.


Expected attendees are 100 individuals from ADPROS, Department of Advertising and Public Relations - College of Communication Community, PUP, national participants, guest speakers, and sponsors.


Senator Risa Hontiveros, Deputy Minority Floor Leader of the 19th Congress, will open the said event through her opening remarks. Professor Xiao Chua, Filipino Public Historian and Professor at the De La Salle University - Manila will also share a special message for the information champions there. Afterwards, the roundtable discussion entitled Behind the Curtains: Roles and Efforts of ADPR and Different Sectors in Dismantling Networked Disinformation will begin with panelists from different sectors namely Ms. Nikki Golez, the Creative Director of Propel Manila, Ms. Mef Marzan, the Associate Director for Advocacy Communications of Evident Communications, Atty. Grace Salonga, the Executive Director of Movement Against Disinformation, Mr. Paolo Ordonio, the Secretary and Community Manager of Break the Fake Movement, Ms. Nikki Estella, the Program Coordinator of Youth-Led Network for the Right to Information, which are both are from Non-Government Organizations (NGO), and Mr. Lheonel Sanchez, the Editor-in-Chief of The Communicator, the official student publication of PUP–College of Communication.


The guests may engage in the discussion through asking questions. Moreover, their digital literacy skills will be enhanced through the workshop entitled #DigiTalino: Amplifying Digital Literacy for a Disinformation-Free Communication, facilitated by Mr. Joseph S. Cadeliña, MHSS, RN, Master Trainer of the Break the Fake Movement under the ASEAN Digital Literacy Program.


The last phase of ADPROS–Advocacy Plan is officially partnered with: Trivo Asia Magazine, Luna Prodmanila, Now You Know PH, Mapua Radio Cardinal, and Alyansa Ng Mga Panulat Na Sumusuong - ALPAS. In cooperation with The Philippine Artisan, Blank Canvas Advertising House, and Angat Kabataang Aktibo Ng Pasig. With Red Images as the official studio partner, co-presented with Mr. Potato, and a special thanks to Leigh A Thread, the event will be filled with fun and inspiration!
