Basilan fishermen show support for Robredo, Kiko in fluvial parade

By Joselle Dela Cruz

Over 50 boats joined the fluvial parade in support of the presidential bid of Vice President Leni Robredo and her running mate Sen. Kiko Pangilinan in Isabela City in Basilan Province on Dec. 1.

Participants were mostly from Brgy. Lukbuton who received fishing boats and complete fishing equipment through the Office of the Vice President’s Angat Buhay program.

Fishermen sailed on the waters for at least an hour showing the tarpaulins with “Leni 2022 Kiko” written on it.

“Ito ang #NeverForget na magaan sa puso,” they said.

Volunteers from Leni Para Sa Lahat-Basilan and Dapat Si Leni Basilan Youth traveled hours to organize the event with the fishing communities in the province.

Last Nov. 26, 200 tricycle drivers from Isabela City Drivers/Operators Association also showed their support for the bid of Robredo in the 2022 elections.

The group shared how the lives of their families were affected because of the pandemic.

They are hoping that by supporting Robredo, financial assistance would be given to them.
