Pondering… as I sit here at the edge of my mythical life pond.
One can see many things happening at the edge of life’s pond, as in any pond. Decisions are made there, life changing decisions, defining moments… to get in the pond, or not. The pond is encircled by its edges in different forms and kind: straight, jagged, rough, rocks, pebbles, sand, soil, or mud. Very much like people. No matter the differences we have, we all belong there… around the life pond, inside, outside, at the edge, but there.
During the campaign period, I was fortunate enough to have attended a substantial number of rallies for the Leni-Kiko KatRoPa and Angat Buhay Team especially those in the provinces. In refreshing candor, I can say that from my own experience, the rallies had all been festive, so full of warmth and goodwill. It was like the Christmas season had descended upon us way, way too early. The attendees haul themselves to the venue as early as their schedules allowed them, there would be many seen coming in early to meet up with friends and find the best spots to be in; they would either be friends, family, or even just individuals wanting to show their support for the team and be counted. Surplus monies, as well as hard earned savings were plunked in the different activities that led on to the rallies conducted in different localities and provinces.
Personal sacrifices were definitely made as varied contributions for the whole team’s campaign; getting thirsty and sweat-soaked under the scorching heat of the summer sun, hunger pangs that come to visit, and all other discomfort that seemed easy to brush aside because of the bigger and noble task of nation building.
The election results leave us surprised, baffled, angry, and grieving. We were not ready for this; we were so full of hope, of dreams, and of inspiration. It was as though the big bad wolf came huffing and puffing to blow our house down – we didn’t know what hit us, but it hit us right smack in our face!
Only The Young, I came across this song performed by Taylor Swift, written by Joel Little and Taylor Swift which was used in one of our recent MTVs. Taylor says she came upon creating her song in the light of the U.S. elections. If ours wasn’t too tragic for us, it would be funny because there is so much similarity with what happened in theirs. Our democratic institutions were compromised, most definitely.
Step back, lick our wounds, nurse our hurts, and manage our pains.
Could we have done better? Perhaps, no matter; but the results thereof will be our springboard to propel us into our next journey. Most gleaning is what we saw and felt for ourselves, we had a glimpse and taste of heaven.
We now know what is possible and there is so much hope!
It was the Filipino people, not VP Leni, who was cheated, we were robbed of our future, and our chance for a brighter tomorrow. I am just so glad that we were not robbed of the spirit of hope burning inside of our body and soul; it is that very same spirit that will make us come together and propel us into the moulding of our nation.
Only the Young
“It keeps me awake The look on your face The moment you heard the news You're screaming inside And frozen in time You did all that you could do The game was rigged, the ref got tricked The wrong ones think they're right You were outnumbered, this time
But only the young Only the young Only the young Only the young can run Can run, so run And run, and run
So every day now You brace for the sound You've only heard on TV You go to class, scared Wondering where the best hiding spot would be And the big bad man and his big bad clan Their hands are stained with red Oh, how quickly, they forget
They aren't gonna help us Too busy helping themselves They aren't gonna change this We gotta do it ourselves They think that it's over But it's just begun
Only one thing can save us Only the young (only the young) Only the young (only the young) Only the young (only the young) Only the young
Only the young (only the young) Only the young (only the young) Only the young (only the young) Only the young Only the young (only the young) (Don't say you're too tired to fight It's just a matter of time Up there's the finish line) Only the young Can run
Don't say you're too tired to fight It's just a matter of time (can run) Up there's the finish line So run, and run, and run Don't say you're too tired to fight It's just a matter of time (so run) Up there's the finish line And run, and run, and run
Only the young Only the young Only the young”
Many of our countrymen are not really aware and curious of the truth.
We need them to do more critical thinking. We still have a lot of educating to do, we also have to consistently fight and expose their lies. We are in the biblical phenomenon of the "wandering in the desert" after our exodus from the dark ages of ML.
Now, we are back to square one with the "people" creating and worshipping their golden calf. Our moral bearings have been assaulted. And let me add, we need to continue praying a little more -- our prayers are being answered, just not in the way we were expecting.
We should accept what is intrinsically and universally good - not that which is subject to misinterpretation. Like almost a dogmatic interpretation of good and evil.
The demagogues will continue to come and mislead. I think that this is part of the new "colonizer" order. Our colonizers are not foreigners but fellow Filipinos -- certain groups of our countrymen like the tards and, now, the new conquerors. They are not your patriots as you have witnessed their conduct in the last six years. It will also not be just another 6 years but decades of setback, perhaps.
It all started with their fake news, fake sites and other insidious efforts towards revisionism of our history more than 10 years ago. Blame it on the god-forsaken mercenaries, ideas and craft people, who focused towards mind conditioning and behaviour modification -- they are complicit and culpable with all of these -- selling their souls to the devil!
The phenomenon of our campaign is that it had metamorphosed into a movement already the moment when we offered our resources of time, talent, skills, and money.
All of our efforts will not go wasted if we hold on together and keep pounding the rock. It rests upon every Filipino to fight for our hopes and we have all seen this in action, especially with those from our youth.
We need a sharper sword to slay the dragon, and a sharper sword will mean a louder voice.
The more of us together, the louder our voice will be. Let our voices roar for Justice, Democracy, and Freedom!
God have mercy and bless us all!
Pondering, as I sit here at the edge of life’s pond.
